From the Sun:
CALUM DAVENPORT showed West Ham’s misfiring strikers how to hit the net.
The centre-half nodded home Julien Faubert’s corner after Carlton Cole and Craig Bellamy missed a host of chances.
David McGoldrick grabbed two for Saints but sub Zavon Hines volleyed an equaliser.
Hammers boss Alan Curbishley said: “I’m feeling optimistic with all the players we’ve got coming back from injury.”
Craig Bellamy is like one of my kids, sing his praises too much and immediately he will play-up. Earlier in the week Curbs told BBC Sport that Bellamy was like a new signing, grafting away, and performing like the striker we expected him to be when he arrived at West Ham. A few days later he plays against a team that narrowly escaped relegation from the Championship and he looks ordinary, and uninspired… maybe he has been playing with Carlton Cole too much!
At least this match has given Curbs a chance to practice his repertoire of excuses; “We were tired”, “we have players injured”, “I keep playing Carlton Cole”…
